2021 Exhibition - Calgary Arts Centre - Mull
RIGHT to ROAM
Paintings inspired by the Right to Roam embodied in Scottish Legislation in 2005.
100 x 100cm acrylic on canvas
My neighbour Paul and I climbed Beinn Talaidh on a dry, cold but windy May day with low cloud. The snow tipped mountain appeared and disappeared in fleeting moments, reminding us of the sad history of the slopes. In February 1945 a Dakota aircraft crashed just below the summit, the pilot said to have been disorientated by the low cloud and snow. A monument in the form of the propellers marks the foot of the climb.
